Still playing around with my new Fantasia watercolor pencils and I am still enjoying the muted colors. For background though I did try a new technique. Distress Oxide inks are fantastic and I really love how they offer a more solid/ soft background. I used 3 different colors of blue for the background. I probably could have just done 2 shades as the 3rd was basically covered up with the animals and hills.
After inking on the Oxide ink on Bristol paper I used a water brush to draw out the clouds and using a paper towel I was able to blot out the color to reveal a more subdued cloud image.
The animals are a Paper Smooches stamp that I fussy cut out after using watercolor Pencils to color them in. The Zebra is more of a teal color in person, it's been gloomy today so my natural lighting more photos hasn't been the best.
I did a little distressing on the hills with a file and added in a faint shadow for each animal with a gray watercolor pencil. The sentiment is a old stamp set from Inkadinkado that I have had for a long time. It's whimsical and fit well with the over all prompt of the new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge which you can check out here.

Basic Grey files I used to distress the paper are no longer available. The Tim Holtz distresser listed below I have used and would give the same effect.
