Every card design is different of course but I'm a firm believer in small details. It's a great way to take that design, add a special touch and "BAM" it's even better.
So what do I mean by that? Well take this bunny card I made above. The main detail elements I added are; the glossy accents to the stars in the sky, the white pencil over the shadowed hilltop and the extra band of color at the bottom. Try to imagine it with out those elements. It would still be a nice card but if your looking for something extra, these details may help.
* The glossy accents provide enough highlight so that the star constellation concept doesn't get lost over the darker bottom half of the design. That also enables me to stamp the stars in a lighter color so that those images don't overpower, like a darker ink color would.
* The white Prismacolor Pencil brightens the lower half but also enables a fun detail for the shadow of the bunny while also highlighting the sentiment.
* The extra band of color at the bottom draws your eye around the card by using the same color as the very top of the morning sky ink blend.
I also like to add in even more details when possible. Instead of leaving the bunny buns blank (the paper is already white and therefore wouldn't necessarily require extra details). I added white Nuvo drops to those for texture. Also if you look closely there is a slight pinkish glow from the sky reflecting off the bunnies faces.
Of course this is how I do it and what I think about while making my card designs. What are some things that you do that are extra details?
