So with the Color Throwdown challenge hitting their 500th challenge I knew I had to make a card for this occasion and participate. No video this is just a quick post because I have something else scheduled for Monday's video.
I took a piece of Arches cold press watercolor paper and used the Concord and 9th Painted Rose stamp to offset to roses. I heat embossed with Versamark ink and Ranger white embossing powder. Then I painted in the roses with shades of Distress Inks.
I used the fabulous Chipped Sapphire distress ink on the background. That color is just a gorgeous blue! For the splatter I used the Kuretake Gansai Tambi Starry Colors (yellow gold shade) for the gold shimmer splatter. Then added white splatter with Copic Opaque white. I also used the same shade of gold to color in the leaves of the roses.
Once dry I tried the eclipse technique. I'm not sure who came up with this first. But I've seen it around and thought it would be fun to try. I used the Simon Says Stamp hugs die to die cut the blue background 4 times. Then I took some scrap Neenah 110lb paper and cut 8 die cuts of the hugs die, to layer. I stacked to of the white hugs together then added the blue hugs on top, then they could be glued on to the card. It gives just a bit of dimension and blends in so nicely but you can still see it. I'm going to have to try this one again!
