Jessica MayDay: Making your own Glitter Paste | Kindred Stamps Plastic Friends

Hey everyone! Welcome back. I hope you are having a great day. In today's video I wanted to show you how I make my own Glitter Paste using some materials that you probably already have.

Now you do need to purchase some texture paste, there are a few different brands out there. But if you purchase just a white you can tint it with your inks. I'm using Distress Oxide ink to color mine a lovely Dusty Concord color.

The glitter I'm using is Starry Night Stickles. Now if you are brave and you have loose glitter you could probably use that instead. I have so many Stickles and honestly I don't use them much anymore so this is a great way to incorporate them into new techniques. It does take a lot of Stickles to get enough glitter but I probably could have done this card with half the amount of everything, I tend to over judge how much material I need.

After using Distress Inks to ink blend on a piece of cardstock I got to work on mixing the glitter paste and layering over the inked cardstock and stencil. You don't need to work too quickly but be aware that whatever you mixed that paste on to will be difficult to clean up once it has dried. That goes for your palette knife and stencil too! Once I peeled off the tape and lifted the stencil I wiped up as much of the glitter paste as possible from all surfaces and rinsed them in the sink.

Now I can go ahead and start the rest of this card while the paste dries on my inked stenciled piece. I used watercolors to color in the characters and then fussy cut them out. Of course I inked the edges with a Memento pen after trimming them. For the sentiments I used a piece of Simon Says Stamp Smoke cardstock and heat embossed with white embossing powder. I also used a stitched rectangle die to trim the glitter paste background and the embossed Smoke cardstock. That way they lined up and the stitching would be cut all the way around once I glued them together. After stamping the inside with a couple of the sentiments from the Plastic Friend set I adhered one of the more snarky looking girls to the inside.

Then I adhered the rest of the characters to the front and attached to the card base. For the final touches I added Nuvo Bubblegum Blush Crystal Drops throughout the entire panel and a couple of dots with a white gel pen, to let the recipient know that the sentiment continues on in the front.

It's a little sweet on the outside and snarky on the inside! 😄
