Hi Ai Fans!
I'm so excited to be showing you my first project as a new Design Team Member for Art Impressions! I just adore Ai stamps! So if you are coming over from the Art Impressions blog challenge post, Welcome! But if you haven't seen what the other designers have made and you want to join in on this fun challenge just click here.
For this card I created an Alcohol ink background using Cool Peri, which when combined with the blending solution creates a wide arrange of pretty pastel colors, perfect for this challenge! I also sprayed rubbing alcohol in a mister over the top of the Alcohol inks then set that aside to dry. (Please note safety instructions before using alcohol inks)
I love this little Otter and his amazing heart sweater! I colored him in with Copic markers (list of markers below) and sketched in a simple rock for him to be anchored on. Then I fussy cut him out with the little rock drawing and inked the edges with a black marker.
I backed my alcohol ink background with black cardstock and layered that on to a A2 sized card base. Then I used Vellum cardstock to diffuse the colors behind the Otter. But he still blended in quite a bit. To fix this I cut a piece of white cardstock down to a 3in by 3 1/4in rectangle, just big enough to fully back the otter image. I adhered the otter to the vellum then glued the vellum piece to the white cardstock, putting glue only where the otter would hide the adhesive from showing through the vellum.
There are some great Otter punned sentiments but surprisingly I used the I love you with the heart in place of the word love. I thought it coordinated so well with the hearts on the sweater.
Copic Markers Used
Otter: E74, E77, W6, W3, W1, W0, RV91
Sweater: V20, BV01, BV02, BG10, BG11, BG13
Flower: YG41, YG03, RV91, R85
Rock: C1, C3, C5, C7, W3
